Cartoon of the week for 4-17-200

Courage the Cowardly Dog

Courage the cowardly dog is a cartoon about a dog who is practically scared of his own shadow but in the end always ends up saving the day. He was abandoned as a puppy and found by an old woman named Muriel who lives on farmland in an old rickety house in the middle of nowhere with her husband Eustace. Eustace is an old crotchety grumpy man who's catchphrase is "stupid dog". This tells you exactly how grumpy a charecter he is. This show was better when it started because Courage did not talk. In the later years, the wiseguys at Cartoon Network decided to give him a voice so instead of his barking, howling and grunting, a dog talked. Other than that, this show had many little original things about it. The personalities of the charecters like a cat from the "wrong side of the tracks" who constantly wore a big mask and a smart aleck computer who always had answers to problems were among the originalities of this show. This show, to my knowledge, is no longer on t.v. and it is somehow forgotten. This show seemed to have died out very fast. I am tired of seeing great shows die off and not get any remembrance. So many great shows are no longer being aired and nobody ever thinks about it. Why? because they are too busy watching CRAP like teen titans and avatar and "cowboy bebop". I don't know what cowboy bebop and yugi oh and other shows like that are and I DON'T CARE. This is America and instead of watching some Japanese stuff in which everybody has very pointy hair, I think it's time to bring back some great American classics. Starting with Courage the Cowardly Dog. thank you.

Cartoon of the week for 4-10-2005

The cartoon of the week this week is one called "Sealab 2021". This is a comical remake of the cartoon of yester-year called "Sealab 2020". This remake has some very funny differences. Among these differences are, 2 of the members of the crew are "romantically involved" and the captain is almost as stupid as George W. Bush. This is another one of those shows that is just so weird and out there that is funny. From the captain starting a holiday called "Alvis Day", which celebrates drunken revenge, to one of the crew members getting the rest of the crew addicted to a hallucingenic herbal-supplement which is made up of kelp, this show has some very interesting story lines. Another example of what to expect from this show is when the captain had an accident in which a soda machine fell over on him and disabled him from moving. The highlight of his day would be when a scorpion would come and sting him. One day that he was trapped under the machine, the scorpion was going to walk right by but the captain actually said "Wait are'nt you forgetting something?". This show even has the voice of Ponch. Yes that's right, Erik Estrada has a job on this show. This show is not recommended for all ages due to some very outrageous plot lines and situations, but it is rather humorous and worth a look.

Cartoon of the Week for the week of 4-3-2005

The Flintstones was a Hanna Barbara cartoon that, up until The Simpsons taking the spot, held a world record for longest running prime time cartoon. This show (at the time) had very funny humor. Nowadays, the humor is a little bit out-dated. Every episode would end with Fred trying to put the cat out for the night, but somehow he always ended up getting locked out of the house. This show took place back in the pre-historic era. Dinosaurs were used as various tools. Dinosaurs were used as scaffolds, garbage disposals, and other items. The car was operated by the power of the driver's feet. This show was a parody of the normal American family back in those days. The show featured story-lines that could very well have happened to real life families. The cast was made up of regular blue-collar folk. This show was very complex and had an original setup, but some say the whole idea was tainted. Some say the creators basically stole the charecter ideas from a show called "The Honeymooners". Fred Flintstone looked like the main Jackie Gleason. Barney Rubble sounded just like Art Carney. Maybe they did steal the idea, maybe they did not. This week though, I am paying homage to a great show of its time. The Flintstones

3-27-05---- YAKKY DOODLE

3-27-05---- YAKKY DOODLE

This week's cartoon of the week for 3-27-05 is Yakky Doodle. Yakky Doodle is an old Hanna Barbara cartoon that was on "Yogi Bear and friends". What could be cuter than a little duckling with a speech impediment. How about a little duckling with a speech impediment that says things like "woe is me... woe is me." and that also saved the life of a big dog (Chopper) and now has that same dog as a bodyguard. This cartoon is only 5 or 10 minutes long and has'nt been aired in years, but it is, indeed, a classic. Fibber Fox's funny one liners when he would try to convince Yakky to do his biddings as Chopper would save the day and pound Fibber Fox into the ground made for some very charming television.
