Hey joe joe whats in the news?

The facts!

Just when you thought you had heard it all, super general store Wal-Mart, has surprised us with a new innovation. As well as being one of the most well known markets around the world, they also are trying to become known as a dating hot-spot. This concept has become a reality in all 91 stores located in Germany and is being tested in Puerto Rico, South Korea, and jolly ol England.

It's called "Singles Shopping" and here's how it works. On Friday nights from 6 to 8 every week, singles that go to Wal-Mart are given a big bright red bow to place on their cart or basket. That is how they are differentiated from the married/spoken for customers.

In general the customers are middle-aged to older and they feel that they are maybe too old to hang out in nightclubs. It all came about when employees heard a middle aged woman talking about how she can never find a date because of her age. Customers may also choose to put their name and picture on a bulletin board and if another customer has an interest, they may get in touch. It is said to be very popular with an estimated 3 to 4 hundred people taking part in this every week.

My thoughts

When I looked this up online, I saw a poll that asked if you would ever go to one of these events. there were 4 possible answers. Absolutely not, I already have, I'd think about it, and yes. I am dissapointed to see that the majority (55%) said absolutely not. I think this is a GREAT idea. Just because you are over the hill does not mean you should be alone. There are some old people who may be widows or widowers and they are lonely and they don't know how to work computers for online personals (or they may be too scared to because of all the spyware and hacking and such), or they may feel like they are too old for the nightclub. Some people may just not get along with people their age group.

Let's say there is a 22 year old guy who is NOT a wild guy at all. He is not a drinker or a partier. He does not go to raves, he does not make dirty jokes at sporting events, he doesn't have any friends and he does not like most girls his age. Let's say he wants a calm girl who just wants to take it easy and hang out once in a while. Somone whos idea of fun (as weird as it may seem) is going to the store on a friday night. Somone who doesn't want to go to the bar with friends or a rave or the movies. This would be perfect. How else would they meet if they are home-bodies and don't like the big party scene?

Old people ill mostly benefit from this. It may not even necessarily mean love. It could just mean somone who does not have any friends and is looking for somone to go for coffee with once in a while. I think this is a good idea and I would be glad to see this in America. Radio stations can start personals lines and internet sites can to. I can turn on my tv without hearing about that harmony or whatever site so I don't see why 55% of Americans would not go to this. Is it that they would rather sit alone at home watching matlock with there 5,000 cats? I welcome this to America and God bless Germany for coming up with this. Makes me proud woo woo. (easssiiiide)
